Everything but the Kitchen Sink

I most definitely carry around too much stuff everyday and thought it would be fun to empty it all out and see whats actually in my bag.

This is currently my most frequently used bag. Purchased from Accessorize in August however it is still part of their current stock.

Inside we have;

Purse, again from Accessorize

Umbrella

Vaseline and Illamasqua lip gloss

Asthma Inhaler

Pencil case

Nail Varnish
China Glaze- Purple neon, and Topshop- matte topcoat
Loyalty Rules! by Frederick Reichheld/ The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks

Ipod, half broken earphones and phone. Yes I do often feel like the only person without a Blackberry or Iphone. Doesn't overly bother me.

Pendrive, awful moment when I thought I lost it, all my Uni work is on here so it doesn't leave my sight now.

My manager gave me a candle. not a clue why, my bag now smells like cinnamon.

Notebook
from Paperblanks
I am naturally an awfully nosey person so I love reading articles in where they show or tell your what is in someone elses bag.

Jesse J, moi ?

It would appear I was ahead of my time and I'm now bang on trend. That is of course with my dip-dye hair! Please excuse me a minute whilst I bask in sunlight of being a trend setter. Only joking but it has amused me.
Jesse J
I'm not quite sure when I first dip dyed my hair. I definitely had it done before Rockness this year as I remember fair few drunk festival goers telling me how awesome it was.

I have a confession to make I like dip dying my hair is not cause it's "on trend" or I'm trying to stand out, the main reason is that it is very low maintenance, you don't have to worry about roots. Its a messy hippy look so I can leave it as long as I want before it gets coloured again as it looks fine whether its bright or washed out. I don't think it would look good faded on Jesse J's black hair but on my blonde hair I can pull it off with the only drawback being one family member who calls me a tree hugger (all in good fun).

I often get asked which salon I go to get it done, it's actually a home job and it is super easy to do yourself although a tad messy. You can easily change your hair by changing the colour and rainbow colours tend to only come in semi permanents so you are not stuck with anything too long. The brand I use is Crazy Colour as it is easily found at salon services but I have heard really good things about Manic Panic. Mine started out red and has changed to pink, to orange, back to pink and last night ive blended purple into the pink. Although please be aware even a semi will not wash out a hundred percent.

Love having the two colours showing.
However dubious to what works will think, oops.
It might seem a bit daunting but if you want to give it a try my opinion is just go for it. Its just the ends, very easy to chop them off without loosing too much length.
Inspiration to give you more ideas for dip dying, these photos are taken from tumblr.

Cosy

Finished knitting my hat. Unfortunately I couldn't work out how to do the thumb part of mittens so that all went a bit pear shaped. Instead I bought a pair from where I work, love a bit of staff discount . Here is the hat; I'm really happy with it. Its great for the weather just now as it's light but still keeps me warm, mainly I'm wearing it to stop the wind blowing my hair around. Aberdeen is always fairly windy.

Gotta Love Friends

I love nice t-shirt despite the fact I usually wear dresses I have an inexplicable amount of t-shirts which is a shame as they rarely get worn, I need to go hunt for some jeans and rectify this.

Recently discovered Become Antique, created by Max Helyer (and friends I believe?) from the band YouMeAtSix who I rather enjoy. Other members of the band also have clothing lines. Front man Josh Franceschi
runs Down But Not Out, when it first launched I wasn't really taken by any of the designs but I love this Viva Love design. Guitarist Matt Barnes runs Cheer up Clothing with friend Edward Thomas  which I adore, launched in 2007 and has become very successful. Who wouldn't want to wear something that says "cheer up" on it? Even if I was feeling blue I'd wallow in the irony of cheer up. If you watched Dirty Sexy Things on E4 you will recognise Perou. I love photography so to me this is amazingly awesome.

Friends Jodi and Rachel with Matt Barnes and Max Helyer in Korova after a YouMeAtSix gig, nice guys bad phone photo quality.

This is the vest top I bought from Become Antique. Been wearing it tucked into a high-waisted skirt with a sweet cardigan and some flats, must admit the weathers a bit cold. The material is super soft I absolutely love it, so comfy. It is very baggy in the smallest size, unisex sizing I always find to be too big however I find big can work really well for me, tucked in a skirt or left out over jeans as I don't like my legs so I am always looking for a baggy top for jeans. The Become Antique packaging is lovely, comes in brown paper with their monkey emblem on the front. Personally I think brown paper is the best thing for wrapping so that was a bonus.

Went to see Jason Manford last night he was hilarious, Cat wanted a photo with him so we waited around afterwards.

After Jason Manford I came home to find two of my flatmates, Amy and Ellen, had been up to hi-jinks and enlisted the help of our friends Phil, Andrew and Alex and to my amusement they filled my room with balloons.

I was also left a lovely note on one of the balloons unfortunately it popped, note to self do not leave bedroom door unlocked. I was rather impressed by their dedication to the cause as they even bought a balloon pump.
Reads " Hi Robyn, hope you enjoyed the many balloons within your room and also this drawing love Phil X.
Drawing of a smiley face which captioned "hi, I'm Robyn and I'm smiling at you, sometimes always.

Art & Fashion by florence Müller

The discussion of whether fashion can be art is a topic which appeals to me a great deal. I borrowed Art & Fashion by Florence Müller from my uni library last week. It mentions Salvador Dali in the blurb which is why I took it out as I am a fan of his work since reading Salvador Dali by Dawn Ades after I saw an interview in which favourite comedian of mine, Noel Fielding mentioned Dali.

The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali
One of his most famous paintings The Persistence of Memory features the recurring element of "soft clocks" which I find rather pleasing. I recently served someone at work that had this as the design on their credit card, we did start to have a fun conversation but her friend was unaware of Dali and dragged her off. If you’re a fan of his work I recommend trying to find the Channel Four Documentary, Dirty Dali: a private view, it gives a really interesting insight into his life from the first hand experiences of one of his acquaintance’s, art critic Brian Sewell.

Art & Fashion is set out so that the first section is all writing and this is then followed by a second section containing illustrations and photographs of designs to show the reader Müller's theory. Focusing on collaborations between artists and designers Müller explores the reasons why art and fashion work together. Interesting read, although short.

Photo Shoot

Organised a Photo shoot yesterday, the photos are for a university magazine. Lots of fun, the photography and styling were done by me and a massive thank you to the team:

Models - Amy Smith and Ellen Bedford
Hair Stylist - Jennifer Boyd
Make up Artist - Rebecca Walker
Designer - Katharine Price

My flat was pandemonium, I was also accommodating three couch surfers from Sweden over the weekend, they were in Aberdeen to see the Arctic Monkeys, lovelly people they gave me Swedish sweets as a thank you. We bonded over my liking of Swedish cider Brands. Thankfully they went out whilst we were shooting as there would have been no room.

Rebecca working her magic.

Rebecca giving Amy dramatic eyes.

Jennifer's idea to add the white extensions made the hair standout.

Touch ups.

Designer Katharine stayed to help out with the shoot.

Extremely happy with the end results. The location is the street outside my flat. As well as being convenient the industrial walls and fences were exactly what I was looking to shoot the knits against to show that knits can be used to create a young, fashionable edgy look. Although sunny there was still a chill outside so I really can't thank the models enough for no complaints and getting the job done, especially Amy who was rather naked.

Rebecca and Jennifer have worked together before which I think really shows in they photos, these are a few from the shoot;

Ellen and Amy would like you to know that models DO eat.

Finished the day off nicely by going to see Andrew Brand at the Union.

Owly

Finished owl costumer I am really pleased with how it turned out the feather are stuck to my arm and indeed it looks like I will be finding little bits of feather stuck to my arm for at least a week.
